Earlee Melvin, running back, Douglas Byrd
Cumberland County’s leading rusher showed no signs of slowing down this week, racking up 224 rushing yards and three touchdowns in a loss to Overhills. Melvin had a pair of touchdown runs from 7 yards out and another from 38 yards to lead the Eagles.
Trevon Jones, athlete, Trinity Christian
Jones did a little bit of everything to help the Crusaders improve to 7-0 on the season. The senior scored on a 36-yard run, a 48-yard punt return and capped his night with a 99-yard interception return for a touchdown.
Tim Grate, quarterback, Village Christian
Grate made the most of his chances in Village Christian’s eighth consecutive win to start the season. The junior quarterback had five completions for 241 passing yards, with touchdown throws of 75, 60 and 86 yards for the unbeaten Knights.
Tate Lee, running back, South Columbus
Lee racked up 196 rushing yards and scored three times for the undefeated Stallions, who put up 61 points to remain unbeaten in the Three Rivers 2-A/1-A Conference. The senior running back scored on runs of 57, 1 and 53 yards.
Devante Wedlock, athlete, Seventy-First
Wedlock produced on both sides of the ball for the Falcons in their win against Scotland with two rushing scores, 10 tackles and a forced fumble. The senior scored on runs of 3 and 15 yards, added a two-point conversion, and was a part of a Seventy-First defense that had four fumble recoveries.
