Coastal Christian 2, Gaston Christian 1

The Centurions started their season in style Saturday with a win over a stellar Eagles squad. A goal by Brian Cooke in the 47th minute proved to be the difference, and Chase Godwin made 13 saves to secure the win.

Cooke's score came off his head, courtesy of a corner-kick assist from Walker Henderson. Coastal Christian's first goal also came off a corner kick, and it was Henderson who found the back of the net in the 25th minute to tie the match 1-1.

The Centurions are back in action Tuesday with a home match against Northwest Guilford.

The Hurricanes scored three goals in a 14-minute stretch to run past the Cardinals.
