GREENSBORO — Svea Eckstrand scored in the game’s first minute and visiting Burlington Christian Academy remained unbeaten with a 4-0 victory against American Hebrew Academy in a Triad Athletic Conference girls’ soccer game Monday.

Jessica Capes, Emma Brown and Izzy DuPreez added goals for the Royals (9-0 overall, 8-0 league).

Gracie Brown and Capes each had an assist and goalkeeper Abi Proffit had an uneventful afternoon as the BCA defense allowed no shots on goal for American Hebrew Academy.

Sami Kritzberg had 13 saves for the Eagles.

• WILLIAMS 7, SOUTHWESTERN RANDOLPH 1: Alana VanSchaick, Natalie Sutton and Kim Jara scored two goals apiece and the host Bulldogs cruised to a Mid-Piedmont Conference victory.

Anders Robinson added a goal for Williams (8-3-1, 6-2).

Kayla Blankenship scored at the 24-minute mark for the Cougars to tie the game at 1-1.

• WESTERN ALAMANCE 10, EDEN MOREHEAD 1: At Elon, Taylor Daniels scored five goals as Western Alamance defeated visiting Eden Morehead in a Mid-State 3-A Conference game ended early by the mercy rule.

Meredith Jolley added two goals and Genevieve Gauthier, Kacy Floyd and Katie Shields added one goals for the Warriors (9-2, 7-1).

Christine Fontaine scored for the Panthers (1-6, 0-6).

 

Baseball

At Mt. Hermon, a late Southern Alamance rally came up short as the Patriots fell 8-7 to visiting Kernersville Glenn in a non-league game.

Southern Alamance (13-5) scored three seventh-inning runs but left the tying run on third base and the winning run on second base at the end.

The Patriots hammered out 14 hits, led by Cole Greeson with three. Kaleb Potts, Scottie Thompson, Matt Nickerson and Hunter Harrelson added two hits apiece for Southern Alamance.

Kernersville Glenn (8-10) had eight hits in the game and benefited from 10 walks.
