South Carolina head men’s basketball coach Frank Martin announced on Monday that freshman guard David Beatty has asked for and been granted a full release from the Gamecocks program. “We want to thank David for everything he did for our program during his time with us, and we wish him the best on and off the court moving forward,” Martin said in a release.

WOFFORD: Right-hander Jake Hershman was named the Southern Conference pitcher of the week. Hershman was a key figure in two victories. The Dacula, Ga., native tossed four-scoreless innings against Presbyterian, striking out two batters and picking up the win as Wofford edged out Presbyterian 3-2. In the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader against Furman, the sophomore went 4 2/3 innings, striking out six batters as the Terriers claimed the weekend series with a 5-2 win over the Paladins.

LIMESTONE: The nationally eighth-ranked men's golf team fired a 297 (9 over) in the second round of the Conference Carolinas Championship, leaping three spots to move into a two-way tie for second place at the Cutter Creek Golf Club.

• The baseball team dropped a pair of nonconference games at Anderson, falling by a final of 9-4 in Game 1 before coming up on the wrong end of a 6-1 decision at Memorial Stadium.

• The women's golf team will enter the final day of the Conference Carolinas Championship in first place after carding a 305 (17 over) in second-round action at the Cutter Creek Golf Club.

• Sophomore goalie Jenna Haring was named Conference Carolinas Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week. Haring amassed a season-high 10 saves with a 52.6 save percentage in a 14-9 victory over conference rival Mount Olive to propel the Saints to first place in the conference.

• The women's lacrosse team remained idle, checking in at No. 8, in the latest Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Division II Poll.
