The past week saw some warm weather but the ocean offered limited opportunities for fishing.
Inshore fishing is producing catches of red drum and black drum.
Red drum are also being caught along the surf zone, off the piers and around the jetties. Fishing at the nearshore reefs is producing catches of black sea bass and assorted bottom fish.
Joe Johnston reports red drum are being caught in the creeks on cut bait and soft plastics.
Black drum are being caught in the deep holes on fresh shrimp.

CRYSTAL COAST-SWANSBORO TO MOREHEAD CITY-INSHORE/NEARSHORE
Captain Jeff Cronk reports anglers along the Crystal Coast have had some great fishing opportunities over the past week.
Red drum are being caught along the surf zone, around the jetties, off the piers and in the shallow bays behind the beaches.
The best lures have been scented soft baits. Some black drum are also being caught on bottom rigs tipped with shrimp and cut mullet.
The nearshore live bottom areas and nearshore reefs are producing catches of black sea bass and assorted bottom fish. Best baits have been 2-ounce bucktails tipped with Gulp Shrimp and bottom rigs with cut bait.
