BLADENBORO - John Hurley, 84, passed away Thursday, April 20, 2017, at his home. He was born August 8, 1932, in Pike County, KY to the late John & Stella Ramey Hurley. He retired after 25 years of service in the US Army, having achieved the rank of Master Sgt. and was stationed in Korea and Vietnam. He will be remembered for his work in the community as a home appliance repairman for 40 years. He was a friend to many of his customers. He was also a lifetime member of Disabled Veterans, Chapter 7, and a member of VFW and the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Magaline Minnie. John is survived by his wife of 58 years, Peggie L. Hurley of the home; three children: Stella LuAnne Hurley of the home, John Anthony Hurley and wife Rebecca of Bowling Green, KY, and David Alex Hurley and wife Tonya of Whiteville; three grandchildren: Sarah Elizabeth, Catherine Maria, and Jacob Aaron; one great-granddaughter, Vivian Elizabeth; and his half-brother, Arlin Taylor of Pikeville, KY. A time of visitation will take place on Sunday, April 23, 2017, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 24, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Boyd Allen Britt and Rev. Anthony Rich officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Floyd Memory Gardens in Lumberton.
