1. Thanksgiving meals: Operation Turkey — which prepares, packages and delivers Thanksgiving meals to the homeless and less fortunate — is accepting meal requests for 2018. There are no qualifications to request and receive a meal. Meal requests will be accepted through Nov. 16. To request a meal, go to operationturkey.com/2018meal.

2. FSU homecoming parade: Fayetteville State University is accepting applications for the 2018 Homecoming Parade, which is scheduled for Oct. 27 at 10 a.m. To obtain an application, go to the university’s website at uncfsu.edu and click on Homecoming 2018. 3. Domestic violence vigil: The "Remember My Name'' Domestic Violence Vigil that had been scheduled for Oct. 11 is now scheduled for Thursday at 5:15 p.m. in front of the Cumberland County Courthouse. The names of domestic violence victims since the last vigil will be read aloud, and there will be a dove ceremony. For more information, call 910-396-5521.

4. Stars & Guitars: The seventh annual WKML Stars & Guitars concert is scheduled for Nov. 12 at the Crown Theatre. Scheduled performers include David Lee Murphy, Craig Campbell, Tyler Farr, Trent Harmon, and Cam and Carlton Anderson. Tickets can be purchased online at CapeFearTix.com, by phone at 888-257-6208, at the Crown box office or at the Leisure Travel Office on Fort Bragg. VIP packages include a ticket in the first four rows, access to a special preshow dinner party with a performance from Carlton Anderson and a VIP gift bag.
