A father and son have been charged with attempted murder following a Friday shooting at West Caswell Street.

Jeffery Donell Sutton Jr., 42, of 447 Mindy Lane and Jeffery Donnel Sutton Jr., 21, of 2537 Airport Road are the suspects.

According to a police report, officers were called to a report of shots fired at West Caswell Street, near North Herritage Street. Lenoir County Sheriff’s deputies also responded to the scene.

Officers determined that two vehicles were involved in the shooting incident. Deputies stopped a silver Chrysler 300 occupied by Sutton and his son, while a second vehicle was located at UNC Lenoir where the shooting victim had been transported for a possible gunshot wound.

The Suttons are each charged with two counts of attempted murder and discharge of a firearm into an occupied vehicle. Sutton Sr. was also charged with ossession of a firearm by a felon.

Sutton Sr. was placed in Lenoir County jail $1,200,000 secure bond and his son under a $1 million secured bond.
