A 31-year-old Fayetteville man has been charged in the early Sunday stabbing death of his grandfather in a residence on Cranbrook Drive, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.
Damar Dobbins, of the 3300 block of Cranbrook Drive, was charged with the first-degree murder of George Dobbins, 72, of the same residence, news release said.
Damar Dobbins, authorities said, is being held in the Cumberland County Jail without bail.
After receiving a report of a male subject covered in blood, police officers were dispatched at about 2:37 a.m. to a Marathon gas station on the 700 block of Country Club Drive, at the intersection of Country Club and Rosehill Road. Upon arrival, they located the subject, Damar Dobbins.
Dobbins was not injured. After speaking with him, the initial release said, the officers determined that his last-known residence was on the 3300 block of Cranbrook Drive.
The officers then responded to the residence and, after repeated unsuccessful attempts to get someone to answer, they found an unsecured door. The officers checked the residence for any possible injured persons and located the deceased George Dobbins inside, Fayetteville police said in the release.
