An Elon teenager was arrested Monday, July 9, charged with shooting and wounding a Greensboro woman and her teenage daughter.

Thomas Lloyd, 16, faces two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury, two counts of discharging a weapon into occupied property causing serious bodily injury, felony discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling/moving vehicle, felony discharging a weapon into occupied property, misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon with a minor present, and misdemeanor discharging a firearm within Greensboro’s city limits.

The shooting June 30 at 5016 Turnbridge Circle left the mother and daughter each suffering from one gunshot wound. The daughter suffered a severe spinal cord injury.

Greensboro Police Capt. Nathaniel Davis said he didn’t believe the shooting to be random and that “a dispute arose between a group of people.”

Davis would not discuss a motive for the shooting but said Lloyd knew the victims. He said investigators are not looking for additional suspects.

“We are going to continue to keep our ears open,” Davis said.

Lloyd was held on $250,000 bond.
