A Blackstock man accused of assaulting his girlfriend outside a Bojangles' on Asheville Highway in Spartanburg was arrested Wednesday.
Quakentric Octavius Pendergrass, 24, of 470 Red Hill Church Road in the Midlands' community of Blackstock, was charged with assault and battery first degree. According to an incident report from the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred Tuesday morning at 1800 Asheville Highway.
Deputies arrived at Bojangles' and saw two employees standing over a woman who was visibly upset, according to the report. The employees were using dish rags to apply pressure to multiple lacerations to the woman's head and arms. According the report, the woman told deputies that her boyfriend, who was later identified as Pendergrass, had shoved her through the double-pane glass window at the front of the store. The window was shattered and blood was found in the area.
The woman told deputies she had argued with Pendergrass before entering the store. After they entered the front of the store, the victim told deputies that was when Pendergrass shoved her.
According to the report, the woman was injured and taken to Spartanburg Medical Center for treatment.
