LILLINGTON — A Harnett County man injured in a three-vehicle wreck near Dunn earlier this month died Wednesday from his injuries, the Highway Patrol said.

Clarence Jeff Strickland, 71, of the 100 block of Delano Street in Dunn, died at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh, a Highway Patrol spokeswoman said.

The wreck happened June 5 at 7:44 a.m. on Bryant Road, near Ashe Avenue, about 1½ miles west of Dunn, according to a report filed by Trooper L.E. McRavin. Strickland, driving a 2017 Ford Expedition, was traveling west on Bryant Road when his vehicle crossed the center line, the report said. The Ford clipped an eastbound Chevrolet pickup truck before colliding with a 2012 Ford Mustang behind that vehicle.

The driver of the Mustang, Hunter Kay Watkins, 21, of the 2200 bock of Hobbson Road in Dunn, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Strickland was the at-fault driver, according to McRavin's report.
