A fireman suffered non-life-threatening injuries Wednesday night when he was struck by a car.
The incident happened at 9:30 p.m. on U.S. 74 near Long Branch Road in Kings Mountain.
The fireman was in the road directing traffic while first-responders tended to a wreck.
A woman approached the scene too fast to stop, so she pulled to the right, according to 1st Sgt. J.E. Dowdle with the N.C. Highway Patrol.
When the fireman saw the woman's rapid approach, he also moved to the right and was struck by the car.
The fireman was taken to the hospital for treatment, and the woman was cited for failure to reduce speed, no insurance and registration violations.
