Johnny McCraw emailed to let us know about the R&B Shag Club of Spartanburg.

The group is hosting a "Night of Nostalgia" doo-wop party from 7-11 p.m. Saturday at the Spartanburg Shrine Club, 1450 Fernwood Glendale Road.

The 1950s/1960s-themed event encourages everyone to come dressed in the style of the era and be prepared for a walk down memory lane as they listen to some great shag tunes with a good mix of golden oldies.

Writes Johnny: "Besides shaggin', we'll add in some line and slow dances and we're even going to attempt to do the Stroll that so many of us did years ago at our high school Sock Hops."

The cost is $10 for non-members. Free basic shag lessons begin at 6:30.

The event is free and will be held Thursday at the Spartanburg County Headquarters Library.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the event starts at 7.
