Carlos Ruiz, 34, found hiding under couch
WILMINGTON -- A man wanted in Florida on domestic assault charges was found hiding under a couch at a home in Wilmington, according to a release from the U.S. Marshals Service.
Carlos Antonio Ruiz, 34, was taken into custody at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at a home on McClelland Drive. He was wanted on charges of domestic assault by strangulation, false imprisonment and tampering by depriving use of 911 stemming from an August 2017 incident in Brevard County, Florida, the release stated.
"The U.S. Marshals task force in Florida developed information that Ruiz may be hiding in the Wilmington area and requested assistance from the local office. Ruiz was located hiding under a couch in the residence of a family member where he was taken into custody without further incident," the release said.
Ruiz was in the New Hanover County jail Wednesday awaiting extradition.
