Editor: I read with interest your article concerning the board approving a rezoning request that will allow the construction of a new apartment complex off of Hickory Tree Road near the N.C. Highway 150 intersection behind the Sheetz and McDonald's, which I was not aware of until I read that article.

I then spent some time yesterday afternoon having a few messaging moments with one of our Davidson County commissioners letting him how much I appreciate their approving this and the tremendous concern for the welfare they have for the residents of that area.

I then proceeded to ask him how many commissioners approved this and he said all of them.

I pushed the envelope a little further and asked him how many county commissioners and county zoning and planning committee members lived on Hickory Tree Road. I never did receive a reply back for that question.

This is nothing more than the country trying to make a dollar off of other people’s misery. The traffic on Hickory Tree Road right now is completely impossible at best. I can only imagine what it will become after this, no matter how wide the road will be widened according to future plans. I also anticipate a rapid increase in home invasion and robbery.

It is amazing how easy it is to approve something that doesn't affect you personally.
