Eggs Benny, French toast and mimosas — oh my!
The Silo at RJ Rockers has officially added a new menu to its repertoire, courtesy of the culinary team behind HenHouse Brunch.
The restaurant concept, which opened in February at the 20-year-old brewery, began serving breakfast and lunch last week and is now doing it full-swing. Lexi and Malcolm Garrison, who built the dearly departed downtown favorite HenHouse Brunch, were tasked with building the menu using their signature style, while keeping the feel of The Silo in the forefront.
The pair closed the doors of their popular downtown Spartanburg brunch spot at the beginning of the year in order to join The Silo's team.
"We're excited and really happy with the food we've been able to put out," Malcolm Garrison said. "We had the perfect soft opening last week, and that ended Saturday with a completely crowded house."
The Silo is open for breakfast and lunch from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. A kids menu will be available during that time, as well. The menu will then switch to dinner, which is served until 10 p.m.
Neither Malcolm nor Lexi could choose their favorite dish. "We're proud of the entire menu," Malcolm said.
It features options like fried shrimp and grits, an OMG BLT, beignets and salmon tartine that offers a mix of sweet and savory for every kind of brunch lover. And the best part, Lexi said, is that everything in made in-house, down to the breads and the dressings. The menu has vegan-friendly and gluten-free options, as well.
In addition to the fresh, housemade food, the Garrisons included a variety of fresh-squeezed juices that will change with the season, along with mimosas, Bellinis and a Brewed Mary, made with RJ Rockers pilsner instead of vodka.
"It's a menu full of really good food with fresh ingredients that let the flavors speak for themselves," she said.
