Hey, you guys! The FR8yard at 125 E. Main St., Spartanburg will be hosting its first ever movie night on its 20-foot screen with its showing of "The Goonies" from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18.

"GR8Flicks" will be a semi-regular gathering, free and open to the public, where people of all ages can come together to eat, drink, and enjoy a movie on the big screen.

Proceeds from food and beverage sales from this week's showing will be going to the charity "Pencils of Promise," which focuses on childhood education in impoverished areas of the world. Spartanburg Day School student leaders Jane Montgomery and Birney Sherard are spearheading the fundraiser which focuses on students in Guatemala.

Timken Gaffney's 5th annual Cruisin' for a Cure Car Show to benefit Cherokee County's Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society will take place at the Relay for Life track at the Gaffney Timken Bearing Plant on May 5. Rain date is May 12.

The car show is open to cars, trucks, bikes, boats, race cars, tractor-trailers. Last year, the organization had 168 entries and raised close to $15,000 for the charity and gave away more than $8,000 in prizes.

There will be special awards and custom trophies, raffles, silent auction items, games, food, music and a vendor/crafters section. Vendor applications will be accepted up until April 30.
