Payment tech company expands
RALEIGH — The Clearing House Payments Company, LLC, a financial payments company, will expand in Winston-Salem creating 50 new jobs. The company will invest $24.6 million. The company owns and operates core payments system infrastructure in the United States and is modernizing that infrastructure by launching a new, real-time payment system. The Clearing House is the only private-sector automated clearing house and wire operator in the United States, clearing and settling nearly $2 trillion in payments each day, which represents half of all commercial automated clearing house and wire volume.
NC IDEA announces program
DURHAM — NC IDEA announced a Micro-Grant Pilot Program to help more promising start-ups who need financial resources to take their next step. The program will award project-based grants to young companies looking to validate and advance their idea. This program is targeted at North Carolina-based start-ups with innovative products that have the potential of becoming a $5 million company in five to seven years. Applications from companies in rural and economically distressed counties are especially wanted. Gas prices rise another nickle
RALEIGH — Average retail gasoline prices in North Carolina have risen 5.4 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.61 per gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 6,092 gas outlets in North Carolina. This compares with the national average that has increased 5.2 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.71 per gallon, according to GasBuddy.com. Prices Sunday were 31.3 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 22 cents per gallon higher than a month ago. The national average has increased 17.7 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 30.1 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.
