The Burlington Police Department is partnering with Safe Kids Alamance County to allow residents to drop off unused or expired prescription and over-the-counter medications.

The event can help prevent substance abuse, accidental poisoning and theft by ridding homes of potentially dangerous, expired, unused and unwanted drugs, police said.

Anyone can bring the medications for disposal from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 17, to the side parking lot of Dunham’s Sports, Holly Hill Mall, 309 Huffman Mill Road, Burlington. The service is free and anonymous, and no questions will be asked. Police will dispose of the medications in a safe and secure way.
