A woman is in custody after police say she tried to stab an ex’s relative on Valentine’s Day.

At 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, the owner of 3 Thirty 3 Sports Bar reported to police that he was attacked while preparing to leave the bar, which is at 2437 Corporation Parkway.

A vehicle driven by Lisa Diane Coats pulled in behind him and blocked him, he reported.

Coats exited her vehicle and attempted to stab him with a butcher knife, leading to a struggle, according to police. He got the knife from Coats and she left the scene.

He had minor injuries that didn’t require hospitalization.

“Until recently, Lisa Coats had been in a dating relationship with a member of [the victim’s] family,” Burlington police said in a news release. “The motivation for the assault is still under investigation.”

Coats was arrested at her residence without incident early Thursday morning, charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. Her bond was set at $25,000.
