THOMASVILLE — An early morning accident has left one person dead and another injured, according to reports from the Thomasville Police Department.


The accident, involving two vehicles, occurred at 5:26 a.m. on southbound N.C. Hwy. 109 near Lambeth and Ben Lee roads.


Mohammad Khurshid Khan, 59, of Trinity, was pronounced dead at the scene and Joey Reid Creasey, 35, also of Trinity, was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for treatment.


Police said Creasey was driving a 2006 Nissan Titan north on NC-109 and ran off the roadway, striking a guardrail. He then over-corrected, crossed over into the southbound lane, before hitting Khan’s 2006 Acura MDX, according to the press release.


Khan was pronounced dead at the scene.


The road was closed for several hours and traffic was rerouted away from the scene via Kennedy Road.
