1. Black History Month film talk: Casting director Winsome Sinclair — who has worked with Steven Spielberg and Spike Lee — and award-winning actress Tichina Arnold — of "Survivor's Remorse'' and "Everybody Hates Chris'' — will discuss their careers, lives and challenges they have faced in the film industry as part of "True To Yourself,'' a Black History Month film talk this weekend. The talk, presented by the Arts Council and Piedmont Natural Gas, will be followed by a question-and-answer session. The program is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday at J.W. Seabrook Auditorium on the campus of Fayetteville State University. Tickets are $20 for general admission and $10 for students.

2. Kiwanis pancake sale: The fourth annual Kiwanis Club of Cape Fear Pancake Sale is Feb. 23 and Feb. 24 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Greek Orthodox Church & Hellenic Center, 614 Oakridge Ave. Tickets are $6, which includes two pancakes, three sausage patties and unlimited coffee. Patrons may dine in or take out.

3. Susan B. Anthony Birthday reception: The Fayetteville National Organization for Women will hold its 18th Susan B. Anthony Birthday reception on Feb. 22 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at VFW Post 6018, 116 Chance St. This year's honorees are Deanne Gerdes, executive director of Rape Crisis Volunteers, and Lt. John Somerindyke, a Fayetteville Police Department cold case investigator. Paid reservations must be received by Saturday. Admission is $30 per person, $15 for students.
