Hiring Our Heroes is a nationwide initiative to help veterans, transitioning service members and military spouses find employment, according to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation website.
A Hiring Our Heroes event was held at the Iron Mike Conference Center at Fort Bragg, Feb. 7.
This event was held to assist military spouses in particular, but also welcome were active-duty military, members of the National Guard, U.S. Army Reserve Soldiers, and veterans.
Attendees were afforded the opportunity to talk with employers face-to-face. Each company had a table set up with information such as brochures, DVDs, flyers, booklets, etc.
Both local and national employers, such as the University of North Carolina School system, UNC Wilmington, Kaplan University, Military Spouse Employment Partnership and Booze Allen Hamilton were among the employers seeking to hire at all levels of experiences.
Booze Allen Hamilton is an international company with positions around the globe.
They were recognized by Hiring Our Heroes in 2017 as the top military spouse friendly employer, stated Mona Dexter Hiring Our Heroes.
Even though this was a one-day event, Hiring Our Heroes encourages those seeking employment, to go to their website, HiringOurHeroes.org.
Those who need help with their resumes should go to Mycareerspark.org, where there are digital tools to help create resumes.
Hiring Our Heroes has additional events planned for 2018.
“(We) will be back in September with another event called “Amplify” … for military spouses who are looking to re-enter the work force,” said Megan Paone, Hiring Our Heroes.
