1. Singing valentines: The Methodist University Chorale will take orders for singing valentines until noon today. Three packages are available. Two include a serenade, red rose and personalized Valentine’s Day card. Prices are $10 to $40 with delivery between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Wednesday. For more information, call 630-7153. 

2. Volunteers needed: The Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills needs volunteers to teach members how to play chess and backgammon and to tutor in basic math and reading. Interested volunteers should go to sandhillsbgc.org/get-involved/ to download an application. There is a $10 processing fee to cover the cost of running a background check.

3. Bread and Bowls: The annual fundraiser, which benefits Operation Inasmuch, is Feb. 23 at Hay Street United Methodist Church. The event features chicken corn chowder or chili served in a handmade pottery bowl for $20 or in a bread bowl for $10, along with a drink and dessert. Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and dinner will be served from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at faoiam.org. For more information, call 433-2161.

4. Clean Energy Summit: Desmond Wheatley, president, CEO and chairman of Envision Solar, will be the industry keynote speaker during the 2018 Sandhills Clean Energy Summit on March 9. He will speak at noon in the general classroom building at Fayetteville Technical Community College. The event will feature expert panels, roundtables and workshops on March 9 and March 10. The summit is free and open to the public. Tickets are $30 to attend the two keynote luncheons. Those tickets are available at sustainablesandhills.org/donate.
