Davidson County’s unemployment rate decreased by 0.1 percentage points from November to December according to a report by the North Carolina Department of Commerce.

The county’s rate for December was 4.2 percent, while it was 4.3 percent in November. The rate is lower than it was this time last year. In December 2016, the unemployment rate was 4.7 percent.

For December Davidson County had the 31st lowest unemployment rate out of 100 counties in the state. In December, the county had 79,519 in its labor force and 3,348 who were unemployed.

The labor force is the sum of employed and unemployed workers. The unemployment rate is the number of unemployed people as a percentage of the labor force.
