ASHEBORO — The Salvation Army will hold a toy drive in the Walmart parking lot, 1226 E. Dixie Drive, Asheboro, from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9. The toy drive is part of the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program.

Throughout Randolph, Montgomery and Richmond counties, trees, wreaths and large bows have been placed in some 40 retail stores and businesses with tags giving information about children. The tags indicate sizes of clothing and a toy wish list.

Many of the tags are being picked up. However, many will remain on the tree — or be lost in a pocket book. As a result, those children are what the Salvation Army calls the “forgotten angels.” The purpose of the toy drive is to receive as many donated toys as possible to give to the forgotten children.

The Salvation Army is accepting new, unwrapped toys for children up to 10 years old.
