A Thomasville man riding a moped is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle on Wednesday.

According to information provided by the Thomasville Police Department, at 5:03 p.m. officers responded to the area of N.C. Highway 109 at Liberty Drive in reference to a reported motor vehicle crash.

Preliminary investigation of this crash shows Richard Hunt, 67, of Denton, was driving a 2000 Ford Ranger West on Liberty Drive and was attempting to make a left turn from Liberty Drive onto South N.C. Highway 109.

William Routh, 27, of Thomasville was traveling East on Liberty Drive and was attempting to cross the intersection to continue traveling east when he was struck by the Ford Ranger. He was transported by ambulance to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem where he is listed in critical condition.

Hunt did not sustain any injuries and was not cited for any violation. Official are continuing to investigate the incident.
