A grant from Dr. Pepper Snapple Group will pay for new playground equipment at Boiling Springs Intermediate School.

The $15,000 Let's Play Community Construction grant, announced Friday afternoon in partnership with the KaBOOM nonprofit organization, will fund an outdoor playground set to encourage students to be active while they're outside.

"Our students enjoy playing soccer, 4-square, kickball, basketball, and many other sports during their recess time, but are very excited about the opportunity to have playground equipment to enjoy as well,” said Principal Tammy Greer in a statement.

The grant is part of the nationwide Let's Play initiative to provide kids and families with the tools, places and inspiration to make activity a priority.

Dr. Pepper Snapple has committed more than $35 million to the Let's Play effort through 2019 across the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean.
