A man was arrested shortly after a shots fired call was made to local law enforcement.  

At approximately 2 p.m. on Monday Jacksonville Police officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 100 block of Annie Avenue.

Responding officers found that a 41-year old male was shot. The victim has been evacuated to New Hanover Regional Medical Center for medical care, according to a news release.

The preliminary investigation shows that a black male shot at a person in a vehicle, then fled the area on foot, said Capt. Ashley Weaver, JPD Investigative services supervisor. Officers established a perimeter and canvassed the area.

The shooter was identified as Michael Kevin Jackson, 39, of Jacksonville, He was taken into custody without incident at approximately 5 p.m.

“The outstanding teamwork across the Patrol, Investigative and Special Operations Divisions resulted in taking Michael Kevin Jackson into custody,” said Captain Weaver, in the release.
