An arrest has been made in last week's shooting death of Vontrice Latrell Robinson at a nightclub located on Queen Street in Kinston.
The shooting occurred on May 14 outside Kamelot Lounge. A warrant was issued Thursday and an arrest was made Friday of James Tyrone Sparks III at 1704 George Street in Kinston, according to a release from the Kinston Police Department.
Sparks, 25 and a resident of Cary, was apprehended with help from the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force and he has been placed in Lenoir County Jail under no bond. He was charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a felon.
The altercation took place in the parking lot of the nightclub and officers reported the appearance of an exchange of gunfire.
While investigating the gunshots at the nightclub, officers were notified that two male gunshot victims had arrived at UNC Lenoir Health Care by private vehicles. Both victims were subsequently transferred to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville for treatment.
Robinson, 35, of Kinston, died as a result of a single gunshot wound.
Tajeem Harris, 26, also of Kinston, suffered a single gunshot wound.
