Alan Jenkins was sworn in Monday evening as Spartanburg City Council’s newest member.
Jenkins, who manages social media accounts for Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, was the only candidate to file for the vacant District 2 seat formerly held by Jan Scalisi, who died in January.
In an interview with the Herald-Journal earlier this month, Jenkins said he plans to work to expand the city’s walkability through trails, more sidewalks and properly lit walking areas.
Jenkins also said he wants to continue to encourage the growth and success of Spartanburg’s downtown and areas like Hillcrest.
