The United Way of Gaston County has allocated more than $1 million in funding to organizations across the community.

The United Way is a local organization led by a board of directors that live and work in Gaston County. Money raised in Gaston County stays in Gaston County. Dollars raised through the annual campaign are distributed to community partners by volunteers that serve on the allocation team.

The 2018 allocations team allocated more than $1,081,947 to impact Gaston County citizens through programs and initiatives in education, financial stability and health. Programs that support education in the community ensure young children are prepared to enter school and that elementary students read on grade level. Many of the programs help students move through grade progression to graduation and guide students of all ages continue to learn and acquire marketable job skills. All six of the organizations that receive funding to impact education provide outcomes and measurements for accountability to the United Way.

Funding is allocated each year after the United Way campaign concludes. This campaign is supported by donors across the county.
