The beloved character of Junie B. Jones, whose series of almost 30 books have sold more than 55 million copies in North America, will come to the stage at South View this weekend.
On Saturday, South View Theatre will present “Junie B. Jones is Not a Crook,” written by Allison Gregory, based on the books by Barbara Park.
Tickets cost $5 and the performance begins at 2 p.m.
The play follows the plight of Junie who, on her first day of kindergarten, finds a lovely pen that writes many colors, and she decides it's OK to keep it because someone stole her new mittens. That doesn’t make her a crook, does it?
South View High School drama teacher Alease Timbers hopes the play’s message resonates with viewers.
A group of 300 schoolkids will attend Friday’s matinee.
Timbers thinks they’ll be entertained.
“It’s your favorite book come to life,” she said.
