Alamance Photography Club members were encouraged to shoot black-and-white photography.

January's first-place winner was Dick Schenck for his photo at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. When he saw the waitress taking a break, he couldn't resist the nostalgic resemblance to Edward Hopper's 1942 painting, "Nighthawks."

Schenck is a member of the Alamance Photography Club, which meets at 7 p.m. on the third Monday of each month in the Gathering Place at Twin Lakes Community, 3701 Wade Coble Dr., Burlington.
